THE PHILOSOPHER'S OPINION

divided opinion is not very appreciated in a dark room. Everything skill comes handy- carpentry, welding, art but not the lose tongue of a travelling philosopher who loves to hear the sound of his own voice.

There's a story you should know...

In the beginning...

No, let's begin from now.

Four men are stuck in the dark scuffling about the ancient lock on the gate.

One is a welder who makes the best of doors in his community.

The one next to him who has just delved to the other part of the room in sheer confusion is a carpenter. He was supposed to be in the governor's house to receive his incentive for consistently delivering beautiful furnitures to the governor's quarters. He's a fine young man in his late thirties.

The third is an artist whose choicest paintings seat gracefully in museums. He has the curators from various museums begging for his piece. You could tell how his eyes keeps peering at the gate from every angle

The fourth and the last who seem to be the nonchalant one is a philosopher who has no part to play in the prison break. He only seated back chewing a stick.

Now, there's an existing barrier- Language. It is lucid that they are of different tribes and tongue which shows in their outfits. More frustrated as they were unable to understand each other.

After over an hour of individual labour, one of them breaks the silence in a confusing language making a sentence that all other three understands a partially.

They all paused, turn and keeps looking at him. It's observed that his attire is different and confusing. He has something on him from virtually everywhere in the world.

Feigning ignorance of blantant confusion amongst the other men, he keeps speaking diverse languages. They get pissed and stops listening to him, soon they return to their business.

He gives a wry smile, taps the carpenter and speaks in pure idoma language " I see you are a carpenter. How do we breakthrough"

The carpenter is happy to have been understood and responds in frustration at the same time that he had never seen such lock. To crown it all, he has no tool with him.

The Philosopher counsels him to sit and keep staring at the door. He repeats the same questions with the other two and they respond in their tongues.

Now all are seated facing the big gate with the most confusing lock. A lock that getting the keys would do little. The actual key to freedom lies in one's ability to provide a pin - a four letter word.

Moving in circles like a Chinese master training his students in Kong fu, he keeps speaking enjoining them to have focus enough to think things through.

Wait!

" We are men of different tribes and Nations. We don't know how we got here but that matters little now" he continues

" now I think if we are four and we are looking for four words, it means that each of us have to provide a word"

No one protested

They stand in a single file, the welder goes first followed by the carpenter then the artisan and lastly the philosopher yet it didn't work. Their frustration grew...

" The power of acronyms when words become too many" the philosopher spoke again in all three languages

everyone gets to work again. How best could these letters be placed?

W- elding

C- arpenter

A- rtisan

P- hilosopher

Of all the ways they could place the words, they all agreed it should be CAWP which was agreed to mean CREATING ARTISANS WITH POWER.

C...A...W...

With trembling hands, the philosopher pressed the letter P.

CAWP!

...and the door slowly creaked open to a feast of three kingdoms and a clan of philosophers in a standing ovation receiving them.

THE OLYMPIC

It was about this time many years ago that they raided our village. We called it our little hide out. My go-to whenever I was tired of my home I had gone to the village to spend time with my grandma as it was holiday. Everyone in my nuclear family found it difficult to understand why I preferred the rusty  aura of the village to the sophisticated lifestyle of the city. I left them to wonder but what mattered to me was my happiness. I loved how strange things piqued my interest. For instance; my love for Ogene music. If I had my both airpods on, know that I was lost in thoughts of my heritage. Fantasizing the strength of my Forefathers in the display of aesthetics, their love for beauty, making use of the very little they had at their disposal to still look ravishing. The red beads seated graciously on the lower waists of the young ladies, dangling in unison as they dance to the sonorious harmony of the oja and ogene played by the young men. I missed my fantasies so I got on t...

THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE

... When I get to 14 i'll go to master's house. I will serve him better than these older guys. I'll learn to speak exactly as he does When he calls on me i'll scream yes sah! Then i'll have oat to eat i'll have a taste of their kind of palm wine. I'll be his choicest servant and i access into his room I'll steal from him and I'll run away. " Bless me father for I have sinned" "The Lord..." "I did it... I'm sorry... He told me. He taught me that they chose their fate. I felt privileged to be his favourite so I learnt and imbibed everything he told me. I was loyal to the core and that's why he willed half his properties to me" the middle aged man swallowed "and the other half to the church" "Who did what"Father Clement quizzed When the table is set before the universe and all languages, what do you think will be the common ground on which we'll choose to meet?
